MEMBRANES is a cross-disciplinary AU centre and network in membrane protein research

Our specific interests are the action and interactions of membrane proteins, their role in the cell and their importance for understanding, diagnosing and treating human disease. The centre supports seminars, scholarships and common equipment in membrane protein research. MEMBRANES includes 43 research groups with AU scientists at Departments of Biomedicine, Departments of Clinical Medicine and Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics. The centre scientists represent leading research and state-of-the-art technologies within the following four groups of membrane proteins

1) Receptors

2) Pumps, Exchangers and Co-transporters

3) Channels

4) Membrane enzymes and adhesion molecules.
